South Colonie這個學區一年一度的音樂季正巧讓我們遇到,由學區5所小學、 2所中學、1所高中,450位弦樂團孩子大合奏,大陣仗的場面真的讓人印象深刻,不免又是亂感動一場的。

The South Colonie Central School District’s music department presented a String Jamboree in March, showcasing the talents of 450 young musicians of the South Colonie orchestra program.
The concert included performances by a fourth-grade orchestra of over 200 students, and the orchestras for grades 6, 8, 10 and 11/12. As a finale, all of the students performed Beethoven’s ‘‘Ode to Joy,’’ which received a standing ovation. The large audience included parents, district administration, Board of Education members, and Town of Colonie Deputy Supervisor Nancy Hernandez.
The event was presented as part of an ongoing celebration of Music in Our Schools month.
The South Colonie school district maintains one of the largest music programs in the Capital Region. Across the district, over 1,800 students participate in band, chorus, or orchestra. Over 50% of South Colonie fourth-graders participate in the beginning strings program.
South Colonie music students have represented the district at the local level in Suburban Council and Area All-State music festivals, at the state level at the All-State music festival, and at the national level at the All-Eastern music festival.
South Colonie music students typically have a grade point average 5 points higher and receive more in scholarships and awards than their non-music classmates.
